A-STEP Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program

A-STEP is an accredited program developed by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) as an initiative to promote education for sleep technologists.

The Moraine Park A-STEP Program is designed for individuals interested in sleep medicine. Professionals currently employed as respiratory therapists, electroencephalography (EEG) technicians, and polysomnography (PSG) technicians to work within sleep labs preferred. The program is also appropriate for the new sleep technologist or allied healthcare professional, who is seeking an introduction to, or review of, sleep medicine and polysomnography. Completers of this program will be qualified candidates for the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists certification examination.

This training is an 80-hour face-to-face course that includes both classroom and lab experiences over a two-week period (weekdays only). Upon completion of the course, 80 hours of continuing education will be awarded. The class will be offered as follows:
