Electricity Program Information
Important Information to Know
As part of the one-year technical diploma in Electricity, you are automatically enrolled in the Industrial Wiring Certificate which you will complete as part of the program. Students that start the Electricity program in the spring semester will start part time with the Industrial Wiring certificate and general education courses.
Note, that students must be accepted into the Electricity program to be financial aid eligible for the Industrial Wiring certificate courses.
Students enter a “cohort” or group when they start the electricity classes. We offer two cohorts on the West Bend campus:
Day cohort
• Full-time
• Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• Mark Wamsley
Evening cohort
• Full-time
• Monday – Thursday, 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.
• Dave Schwobe
Our Fond du Lac Electricity program will be unavailable until the fall 2025 semester. Please speak with your program advisor for more details regarding schedule and availability.
You will need to notify the advisor of your cohort preference at the Program Meeting. Due to high demand for the program, your preferred cohort or campus may not be available.
Field Day
In addition to a Program Meeting, electricity students need to attend a mandatory field day in May that typically lasts 3 hours from approximately 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
During this time you’ll meet the Electricity faculty and your new peers! The faculty will outline program expectations and you’ll learn more about both union and non-union apprenticeships. In addition, we will tour the lab/shop, provide the list of required tools, and share details about College resources.
Watch your email for an official invite and plan to sign up.
Tools/Uniforms
Students are required to purchase specific tools for this program. You will be given a list of required tools and order through a selected vendor that has agreed to give our students a discount on the tool kits. The cost is approximately $500.
More detailed information regarding tools will be available at the Field Day.
