The Cosmetology Apprenticeship program is the perfect path for creative and outgoing individuals. Apprentices work alongside experienced cosmetologists in the salon to learn the skills necessary to be successful in the beauty industry! Get paid to learn the trade by becoming a Cosmetology apprentice and work toward an artistic and rewarding cosmetology career.
What You’ll Learn
Apprentice students learn hands-on skills in the salon and attend school one day a week to complete the classroom requirement for licensing. Students are trained in hair, skin and nail services and upon completion are able to provide high-quality salon services. Students learn the latest techniques, hear from industry artists and attend local beauty shows.
Students are prepared to take the Wisconsin NIC Cosmetology Licensing Exam and upon graduation begin working as a cosmetologist.
Good stamina and health are important as most cosmetology careers require standing for long periods of time.

Tuition Costs
The cost of your degree depends on a number of factors such as total credits required, textbooks and the financial aid you receive. Some programs have additional costs such as uniforms, technology and equipment.

Cost of Attendance
Cost of attendance (sometimes referred to as the “sticker price”) is the maximum amount of money it costs to attend college for one year and is used to determine your financial aid offering.
While attending Moraine Park during the 2024-25 school year, your estimated cost of attendance for one full year includes tuition of $4,462 (15 credits for fall and spring semester), fees of $338, food and housing of $3,008 (if living with parents, $9,147 if living on your own), books and supplies of $1,465, personal expenses of $3,608, and transportation of $4,017 for a total of $17,002. Your direct costs (those costs paid directly to the college) include tuition & fees. The indirect costs (costs not paid to the college) can vary from individual to individual and your own personal needs.
Training Period
The Cosmetology Apprenticeship consists of two years of not less than 4,000 hours. The apprentice spends 6 hours per week for three semesters in paid-related classroom instruction, for a total of 288 hours. Once the apprenticeship is completed, the individual takes the state test to become a licensed practitioner.
Working Conditions
Cosmetologists generally work in well-lit, well-ventilated shops but will be standing on their feet for long periods.
Tools and Equipment
The shop owner will provide hand tools and equipment during the apprenticeship.
