Develop your basic suturing knowledge and learn about the different types of sutures and needles used, as well as length of time, tissue concerns and polymers of sutures. Progress to a variety of hands-on suturing techniques including knot tying, simple interrupted, vertical mattress, horizontal mattress, continuous subcuticular, and simple continuous methods. Course will utilize didactic and laboratory practicum and review wound healing and care. It is recommended that students have a minimum of 2 years of operating room experience and be a graduate of an accredited program in Surgical Technology, Registered Nursing or Physician’s Assistant.
