Jim Barrett

Jim Barrett

Vice President of Student Services

Jim Barrett has served as the Vice President of Student Services at Moraine Park since 2017 and has over 30 years of experience in the educational landscape. Barrett spent the first decade of his career serving the K-12 private schools as a teacher, business development manager and school principal. He transitioned to higher education where he has spent the last 23 years growing through various positions in the student services realm. He started his higher education career as the Director of Academic Advising and Testing at Massachusetts Bay Community College–later advancing to the Director of Academic and Administrative Services for the College’s Framingham Campus.  

Barret relocated to Wisconsin in 2003 where he has held roles at Mid-State Technical College as the Director of Enrollment Management, the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire as Registrar and the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Chief Information Officer.    

Barret’s professional expertise is largely within enrollment management and student services with an emphasis on advancements in technology to better serve students. He has served as a functional specialist and project manager in four Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations.   

Barret is an active member of the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NADFAA). He is a member of the West Bend Morning Rotary and a proud resident of the City of West Bend.  His greatest joy is spending time with his wife and two children, who both began their educational journeys at Moraine Park.

Vice President of Teaching and Learning

Douglas Hamm has over 30 years as a transformational servant leader in business and education. For the past 16 years, he has demonstrated success in higher education by leading academic programs and developing and launching new programs that have significant student, institutional, and workforce impacts. Furthermore, he has mastered academic and operational challenges while always focusing on teaching and learning strategies and the student experience. Hamm has experience teaching in associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degree-level programs at various institutions and a vast background in developing curricula, formulating course, program, and institutional assessments, and driving college enrollment initiatives. Throughout his tenure, Hamm has overseen 11 grants and served as a Principal Investigator for a National Science Foundation New-to-ATE grant. In his manufacturing career, Hamm worked in senior leadership within various industries for multiple international corporations – most recently as a Director at Kohler Co. He has an outstanding reputation for his integrity, collaboration, innovation, and authenticity, which leads to positive results. Hamm has dedicated his career to providing opportunities to all students, nurturing a positive workplace culture, and bridging relationships between all levels of education and district employers.    

Hamm has a Bachelor’s degree in business and history from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Master of Business Administration from Illinois State University and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership and administration from the University of the Cumberlands. 

Bethany Rusch

Bethany Rusch

Vice President of Finance and Administration

Bethany Rusch, Vice President of Finance and Administration at Moraine Park Technical College, has served in finance and administration leadership roles for the past 15 years. She began her career in higher education as the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at UW-Fond du Lac before moving into the role of Regional Associate Dean for Finance and Administration for the Northeast Region of UW Colleges on the UW-Fond du Lac, UW-Manitowoc, and UW-Fox Cities campuses. Most recently, she served as Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration for UW-Oshkosh. Rusch also served as the Executive Director of the Family Resource Center of Fond du Lac County, Inc., and the Director of Development for the National Speech and Debate Association. 

Rusch began her education at UW-Fond du Lac and transferred to Marian University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude. She earned her Master of Social Work degree with an Administration/Management concentration from UW Oshkosh.    

She has served as president and board member of the Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund, board chair of UWO Head Start, and member of Fond du Lac Morning Rotary. Rusch is currently on the Board of Directors for Fox Valley Savings Bank and serves on the Board for the Rhonda LP Hoffmann Scholarship Fund as the vice president. She is a 23-year member of the Community Advisory Committee for Marian University’s Social Work program and is a running buddy with Riverside Elementary School’s Girls on the Run team each spring.  Rusch volunteers annually at the FDL Pride Picnic and is a member of Free Mom Hugs of Wisconsin and the FDL Area Mama Bears supporting LGBTQ youth. 

Rusch received Marian University’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022, the Kim Mooney Starfish Award from the Family Resource Center in 2016, and the UW Colleges’ Kaplan Award in 2014 for significant and innovative service to students. 

Rusch was born and raised in Fond du Lac, where she has also raised her children, Ava (20) and Miles (18), alongside her husband Barry, with whom she has been married for 26 years. Together, they enjoy attending their kids’ sporting events, boating on Lake Winnebago, and spending time with family and friends.  

Jerry Richards

Jerry Richards

Chief Information Officer

Jerry Richards is a highly experienced, results-driven executive with over 25 years of progressive leadership across multiple industries, including higher education, healthcare, banking, and construction. Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer at Moraine Park Technical College, Richards leads the Information Technology (IT) department. His contributions include establishing a Project Management Office (PMO), implementing agile methodologies, and creating an IT Steering Team, leading to substantial cost savings and enhanced operational efficiency. His implementation of a centralized operational data store, optimizing IT operations, resulted in over $2 million in annual savings for the College.

He holds an associate degree in Project Management from George Washington University and dual degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration from UW-Stevens Point and UW-Marathon Center. Richards also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Secondary Education with a minor in Coaching from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he received the Academic Excellence Award as a student-athlete on the NCAA Men’s Varsity Basketball and Cross-Country teams.

Throughout his career, Richards has demonstrated a talent for aligning IT strategy with organizational objectives to exceed expectations.

Dedicated to community service, Richards serves on the Wausau City Board of Directors and volunteers with Junior Achievement. His professional affiliations include the Project Management Institute and advisory board memberships at Michigan Technological University and UW-Stevens Point.

Known for his strategic vision, motivational leadership style, and operational expertise, Richards has built a reputation as a respected leader in the IT field.
