What is Adjunct Faculty?
Adjunct faculty are temporary teaching employees who work less than 600 hours per fiscal year with work assigned through an instructional agreement. These positions work part-time hours, typically not working more than 20 hours per week. These assignments are on an as-needed basis with MPTC.
Adjunct Faculty Requirements
All new adjunct faculty will need to complete certain required training during their first semester of teaching. For those teaching credit courses, MPTC offers a 2-year Faculty Academy program for new faculty to gain vital teaching knowledge, learn MPTC-specific processes and technology, and meet the 4 initial FQAS competencies.
What is FQAS?
The Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) embodies standards set in place to ensure quality education within the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS). Each district within the WTCS maintains standards and procedures around six key quality areas: recruitment, selection and hiring, onboarding, mentoring, professional development, and performance evaluation.
Adjunct have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and online courses as a part of their ongoing professional development!
