The MPTC Diversity team will host in-person talking circles on each campus to help facilitate civil discord during election season. Talking circles is a practice originating from indigenous cultures where you sit in a circle, one person speaks at a time holding a “talking piece” and this allows for more listening and a braver, safer space to engage in civil dialogue. Each group will have a facilitator and time will be kept with the option to “pass” if you do not have anything to say. The goal is to respectfully learn by listening and to learn how to engage respectfully.
