In 2022, Moraine Park Technical College was awarded a leadership grant through the Wisconsin Technical College System to develop transfer opportunities for students. Considering MPTC and UW-Oshkosh’s relationship as neighboring institutions, the college embarked on a program-to-program articulation initiative. The initiative was designed to address equity gaps through the development of competency-based articulations and to provide graduates of Moraine Park with seamless four-year transfer options.
“Moraine Park has a longstanding commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and quality education to our district communities,” Bonnie Baerwald, Moraine Park President, said. “We know that the technical education we provide here will enrich our students and will, in-turn, enrich the workforce and our communities, and the transfer opportunities created through our University partnerships, like UW- Oshkosh, will create a streamlined transition for our students.”
Moraine Park and UW-Oshkosh sought to develop a minimum of 10 new agreements that would allow Moraine Park graduates the opportunity to complete a baccalaureate degree at UW-Oshkosh. Academic programs across health, business, STEM, and IT were selected for the project. On June 20th, Moraine Park hosted an official signing event to finalize and celebrate the finalization of more than 20 transfer agreements with UW Oshkosh and other local four-year institutions.
“The project was a great success”, Bobbi Fields, Dean of Applied Technology and Trades at Moraine Park, said. “We far surpassed our goal to create ten agreements, and these opportunities will pave the way for our past and future graduates to attain higher levels of education with high-quality, affordable options.”
