Spring Commencement: Alex Prunty to Serve as 2024 Alumni Speaker

Alex Prunty, of Kewaskum, will serve as Moraine Park’s alumni speaker at the Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony on May 18. Prunty graduated from Moraine Park’s Engine Research and Development program in 2013.

For the past three decades, the Prunty brothers have been synonymous with asphalt short track racing in Wisconsin. Since 1991, the Prunty family has clinched 15 championships at Slinger Speedway, showcasing their enduring legacy in the sport. Alex Prunty’s crowning achievement came in 2016 when he clinched the Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP) Championship, propelling him and his team into the national spotlight for their outstanding performance both on and off the track.

At 31, Alex Prunty holds six championship titles and over 50 feature wins under his belt. Mentored by his racing legends of uncles, David, Dennis, and Dale Prunty, Alex has honed his skills on Wisconsin’s demanding short tracks. In 2013, he graduated from Moraine Park Technical College with a degree in Engine Research & Development, and currently applies his expertise as an Engineering Technician at Briggs & Stratton, working in the Engine & Products Innovation lab.

Prunty resides in Kewaskum with his wife, Cierrah, a graduate of Moraine Park’s Nursing program, and their daughter, Ruby.

“When I first set foot on the grounds of Moraine Park in 2012, I didn’t really know what direction I wanted my career to go,” Prunty said. “I wandered the halls of the Fond du Lac campus from program to program, searching for something that interested me. Little did I know, the incredible staff here at MPTC had a keen insight that would change the course of my future forever. It was through their guidance and support that I discovered the Engine Research & Development program. With my background in racing, they saw a potential match as an engineering technician that I had never even considered before. From the moment I set foot in that program, I knew I had found the direction I needed.”
