This spring, the College held several recognition events celebrating 43 Moraine Park apprentices who completed their programs. The students completed apprenticeships in Cosmetology, ABC Construction Electrician, Tool & Die, Industrial Electrician and ABC Carpentry.
Apprenticeships are training programs that provide learners with on-the-job experience and classroom instruction–allowing individuals to earn while they learn. They are an alternative pathway to a family-sustaining career in an in-demand field. Many apprentices complete their programs and secure employment with businesses in the Moraine Park district.
“You are at the front end of your careers,” Steve Horvath, associate dean of trades and apprenticeships at Moraine Park, said. “Be on the lookout for interesting opportunities—you never know what may come your way.”
Noah Kusserow, an ABC Carpentry apprentice from Bob Anderson Builders, first found interest in the trade while attending Hamilton High School in Sussex.
“I fell in love with the carpentry classes from high school like woodworking, and I just decided that was what I was going to do with my life,” Kusserow said. “I’m still not sure exactly what my future is going to look like, but I have my journeyman’s card now, and that will help me wherever I decide go.”
Jenny Conrardy, an electrical apprentice, was selected for an apprenticeship opportunity by her employer, Current Electric, soon after she started working there. She specializes in solar photovoltaic technology.
“Electrical work is so diverse in terms of the applications,” Conrardy said. “There is always something new to explore. Solar energy is booming and it is a newer technology, so it is exciting and ever-changing. It’s hard to see what the future will hold, but I’m excited to see where this new career path takes me.”
Congratulations to all of Moraine Park’s apprenticeship completers for reaching this incredible milestone!
