“9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”
Moraine Park Technical College is now accepting applications for the new Emergency Dispatch certification program. Starting Spring 2024, students can enroll in classes online and at the Fond du Lac campus.
This certificate is part of the robust criminal justice program offerings, allowing for additional pathway options and more opportunities for entry into the human services career field.
Moraine Park’s Emergency Dispatch certificate is designed for individuals who not only want to serve their community but also want a fulfilling career. – Andy Baus, Associate Dean of Human Services
Students in the program can expect to learn about the roles of a communications officer and the technology utilized at an emergency dispatch center. Through live scenarios, they will learn about the types of calls received, how to manage and direct resources, and how to utilize strategies to minimize high-stress environments.
Career Opportunities
Graduates with an Emergency Dispatch Certificate can qualify for jobs such as 911 Dispatcher, Communications Officer, Communications Specialist, Dispatcher, Public Safety Dispatcher, and others. Local wage data for the Fond du Lac metro area shows a median hourly wage of $22.44 and an annual salary of $46,670.
Upon successful completion of the Emergency Dispatch certificate program, students may use their credits (9) to continue down the Criminal Justice program pathway and earn their associate degree from Moraine Park.
