The hard work and academic achievement of Moraine Park Technical College students was recognized during the College’s annual Student Awards Banquet on May 12, held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center. Faculty and staff are able to nominate deserving students each year for six awards: Technical Achievement, Meritorious Service, Campus Impact, Leadership & Service, Student of the Year and Student Ambassador.
Student of the Year Award
Moraine Park presented the 2023 Student of the Year Award to Keegan Schwab of Fond du Lac. The Student of the Year Award is designed to recognize a student who excelled in and outside the classroom and has taken full advantage of the opportunities that Moraine Park has made available for them. All five nominees were recognized the banquet, including Tina Lee of Sheboygan, Damien Garza of Watertown, Ivan Hebbe of Princeton and Sophie Marchello of Kewaskum.
Technical Achievement
Technical Achievement Awards were presented to nine students. To receive this award, recipients must be enrolled in a technical diploma program and have maintained a 3.25 GPA. They are judged on classroom participation and other contributions and characteristics that exemplify an outstanding student. The 2023 recipients were Andrew Dionne of West Bend, John Felling of West Bend, Ivan Hebbe of Princeton, Eric Hennricks of Ripon, Otto Jun of West Bend, Benjamin Praha of Slinger, Dylan Sarauer of Campbellsport, Nick Sauer of West Bend and Dylan Urban of Campbellsport.
Campus Impact
The Campus Impact Award recognizes students who have served the College by participating in a college focus group, a college-related function, or a club/student government activity or project. Other considerations include GPA, reliability and follow-through. In total, five awards were presented, recipients were Jacob Bury Weymier of West Bend, Charles Dreher III of West Bend, Vincent Hansen of Slinger, Calesha Krenzke of West Bend and Sophie Marchello of Kewaskum.
District Student Ambassador
The 2023-24 District Student Ambassador Award was presented to Mailia Bachleitner of Beaver Dam. The Moraine Park District Student Ambassador Award identifies outstanding students in the technical college system, with nominations solicited from faculty and staff in the spring semester of each year.
Meritorious Service
The Meritorious Service Award is granted to students who have served the College through their leadership and participation in co-curricular activities such as student clubs, student government or other volunteer opportunities. This year’s 18 recipients include Josh Bitsky of Friendship, John Blau of Fond du Lac, Morgan Diels of Beaver Dam, Ariana Estep of Beaver Dam, Noelle Fassbender of Burnett, Cole Flood of Lake Mills, Diana Garcia-Pelayo of Fond du Lac, Jonathan Golner of Hartford, Reegan Groenewold of Horicon, Kyle Kolath of Horicon, Andrew McDonough of Fond du Lac, Raelene Nauer of Beaver Dam, Allison Newman of Hubertus, Sarah Nowak of West Bend, Mason Richter of Fond du Lac, Hannah Schaefer of West Bend, Ty Splinter of Friendship and Clinton Wooten of Ripon.
Leadership and Service
The Leadership & Service Award is reserved for members of Moraine Park’s Student Government. A student’s comprehensive level of commitment to the College and their representation of the student body through their attendance and engagement in Student Government and its related opportunities are taken into consideration during award selection. The six award recipients include Mailia Bachleitner of Juneau, Andrew Dionne of West Bend, Damien Garza of Watertown, Ivan Hebbe of Princeton, Dalton Jones of Juneau and Tina Lee Yang of Sheboygan.
