Moraine Park Technical College named Reegan Groenewold, of Horicon, the 2024 Student of the Year. She will serve as the student speaker at the College’s Spring Commencement Ceremony.
Groenewold, a nursing student on the Beaver Dam Campus, will complete the program and earn her associate degree this May. She comes from a family of Moraine Park alumni and is proud to follow in their footsteps.
“Ever since I can remember, I have always been interested in nursing or something in the health care field,” Groenewold said. “In elementary school, we took career aptitude tests. Mine always said health care, and it’s never changed. I have a pull to help people and make them feel better when they need it.”
Criteria for Student of the Year nominations include demonstrating excellence in and out of the classroom while modeling Moraine Park’s core abilities to communicate clearly, act responsibly, work productively, think critically and creatively, adapt to change, demonstrate integrity, and work cooperatively. There were five candidates this year, all of whom excel both academically and in their service-learning. There are very few student honors that exceed this award at Moraine Park, and to even be nominated is a tremendous accomplishment. The other nominees include Mailia Bachleitner of Juneau, Dustin Erickson of Iron Ridge, Crystal Guell of Beaver Dam, Alexander Keuhn of Hartford and Sarah Nowak of West Bend.
Throughout her college career, Groenewold took full advantage of what Moraine Park has to offer and is an outstanding representative of the Beaver Dam Campus student body.
“I am beyond excited to pursue my passion for nursing and caring for others on a labor and delivery unit following graduation,” Groenewold said. “Labor and delivery allows a nurse to be involved with patients during one of the most significant moments of their lives, and I find that aspect to be so rewarding.”
