Moraine Park is celebrating the ongoing success of the College’s medical laboratory technician (MLT) program and its recent graduates who earned a 100% pass rate on the national certification exam. This is the tenth consecutive year that Moraine Park’s MLT graduates have earned this outstanding distinction—a true testament to the quality of training and real-life preparation.
“Moraine Park’s MLT program is supported by highly skilled faculty and a strong advisory committee,” Chris Schatz, Moraine Park’s Dean of Health and Human Services, said. “The program rigor is intensive, and its solid foundation allows our students to graduate with the skills needed to pass their licensure testing successfully and immediately integrate into their careers. We are beyond proud of the program, its outcomes and our recent graduates.”
As an integral part of the healthcare team, MLTs collect and process biological specimens, monitor and evaluate quality control in the laboratory, correlate lab tests to a diagnosis of a condition or disease and more.
There were 7 graduates this May. The program can accept a maximum of 14 students for each cohort.
Moraine Park’s MLT program consists of 67 college credits and is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). An MLT is a certified professional, and upon graduation, Moraine Park students are eligible to sit for the National Board of Certification Exam through the ASCP.
