On Saturday, September 30, you’ll see plenty of flannel at The Ledge Games– a family-friendly competition held at Red Cabin at Green Acres in Eden, WI. Each year, the event proceeds support The Ledge Games scholarship established through the Moraine Park Foundation, which focuses on engineering, manufacturing, and technology programs at Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC).
The event, co-founded in 2016 by Tyler Oestreich of Eden and Josh Michels of Fond du Lac, has generated over $55,000 in scholarships for 92 MPTC students.
“Industries like manufacturing, agriculture, and construction are the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy, and local technical education helps support and develop the next generation of this workforce,” Oestreich said. “The Ledge Games and our dedicated sponsors are proud to support our local Moraine Park students and help make education more accessible and affordable as they develop the skills and tools needed to push these industries forward.”
In 2022, the competition raised $10,000 which supported 20 MPTC students.
“We are thrilled that The Ledge Games provides financial assistance to Moraine Park students through scholarship support,” Kathy Rechner, annual giving manager at Moraine Park, said. “These scholarships play a major factor in student success. The majority of Moraine Park students stay in-state to work once they complete their programs and that gives our local employers a boost when they need workers. Everybody wins with The Ledge Games.”
Participants compete in caber toss, hammer toss, archery, keg toss, speed chop and axe throwing. There are three divisions: Man of the Ledge (men’s division), Woman of the Ledge (women’s division), and the Mentor Division (55+). Spectators are welcome to join the fun and cheer on their friends and family members.
