FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID
One of the most common ways to get assistance with paying for your education is Federal Student Aid. The process begins with completing the FAFSA – the Free Application for Federal Student Aid – in order to determine your eligibility to receive aid. Depending on the information you provide on the application, you may receive either Direct Loans or Grants or both. Some students may also be eligible for Work Study.
- Direct Loans – Money that you borrow and need to pay back
- Grants – Money that you receive but do not need to pay back
The financial aid process from application to completion through Moraine Park can be lengthy! We highly suggest you complete the FAFSA application early! https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
Questions? Financial aid information can also be found on the Moraine Park website.
ALTERNATIVE LOANS
You may also choose to look for an alternative loan. These loans are credit-based, private student loans. Alternative loans generally have higher interest rates and fewer repayment options than federal loans.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are another way you can pay for your education. A scholarship is money that is awarded to a student that has been provided by a generous person, family, or organization. Unlike loans, scholarships are gifts that do not need to be paid back. Most scholarships have an application process. You may also need to write an essay or submit a letter of recommendation. It is important to read through the information carefully.
